Milan Day 2

Buffet breakfast at Hotel Canova (lots of sweet pastries too).

Huge selection!

A walk in the Brera district. An interesting doorway.

The building which contains Pinacoteca di Brera Art Gallery.

This massive painting of Alexandria in Egypt is interesting, as the artist added lots of Italian details, including architecture. Swith's favourite.

Brera streets

Chiesa Carmine

Something to do with deaths of workers?

These very flimsy looking Fiats were everywhere, and looked like plastic kids toys. They have such a weak engine that they count in the scooter category and therefore don't have to have a licence or follow the same rules as cars.

Sforzesco Castle. There was an annoying music event on, which made it very busy and very loud.

The mermaids bridge

Statue of Napoleone III

We loved this brand of drinks - nice flavours and no artificial sweeteners!

This was a bitter orange flavour - too bitter.

Stopped at this lovely cafe for lunch

Pesto and mozzarella pizza - very good

Busy streets as always

Il Cannoli - a wonderful crisp case filled with sweetened mascapone cream and candied orange

The granita was excellent too  - very refreshing. We had lemon and also mulberry - both were good but lemon was better.

Inside the Monumental Cemetery

Classic Italian sunglasses

Another Last Supper. The Italians are always hungry.

The window looked like a furnace

Somewhat sour passionfruit cocktail at Gibus Cafe - still pretty nice.

Classic Aperol spritz which is just on the right side of not being too bitter.

Testina with free breads. The slightly sweet dark one was the best. There were two young children there when we were.

Mondeghili - meatballs with close texture. Not powerful in flavour, tomato sauce was good and naturally sweet.

Veal head gratin - packed with flavour and texture with the meat, fat, onions, garlic and bread.

Ossobucco - really flavouful slow cooked beef shin that complements the creamy and chewy rice.

Semifreedo has an excellent, thick creamy texture. Peanuts worked really well but needed a stronger berry sauce.

Fior de latte gelato was a bit bland. Choc sauce was fine.

Timing to the half minute.

Milano Centrale Railway Station.

Helen's step counter - 23,876; 9.8 miles
